Minor Leagues: Early 90s Classic

1991 Classic Best #410 Chris Durkin (UER, unlisted). Pictured on the right, the major clue besides him being left-handed in real life is the star on the left side of the jersey, which should be on the right. The correct version, on the lef, is from the team set issue and is included for contrast.

1991 Classic Best Gastonia Rangers #5 Scott Erickson (UER, unlisted). Backwards 7, backwards picture of Texas on the sleeve.

1991 Classic Best Osceola Astros #8 Montie Phillips (UER, unlisted). Reversed "Astros" on the front of the jersey is the main clue, though the Rawlings logo on the glove and the words on the scoreboard are also subtle clues.

1991 Classic Four Sport #58 Shawn Estes (UER). One of the very few minor league cards that is recognized as a reverse negative in checklists and price guides.

1992 Classic Best Kane County Cougars #21 Derek Adams (UER, unlisted). Reversed 2 on the shirt back and reversed Franklin on the batting glove.

1992 Classic Best Rockford Expos #11 Gabe White (UER, unlisted). Expos uniforms look so cool as reverse negatives...

1992 Classic Best Vero Beach Dodgers #17 Ed Stryker (UER, unlisted)

1992 Classic Best Lakeland Tigers #4 Dan Ruff and #22 Jim Givens (both UERs and unlisted). Something about Tigers uniforms led to them being easily reversed, I guess. Same thing happened with three in the 1990 ProCards set.

1993 Classic Four Sport #301 John Wasdin (back only, UER, unlisted). The front is correct, but on the back he is pitching lefty and the FSU on the hat is backwards.

1994 Classic Best Gold #36 Wayne Gomes (back only, UER, unlisted). The front is correct but he has a flipped 35 on his sleeve on the back pic.

1994 Classic West Palm Beach Expos #1 Isreal Alcantara (UER, unlisted). Backwards E on the cap is the main clue.

1992 Classic Four Sport Basketball #75 Predrag Danilovic (UER, unlisted). Obviously the back pic is the reversed version of the front pic. Kind of curious that they would think to airbrush the jersey number and shirt sponsor but not notice the rev neg.

1993 Classic #150A Manon Rheaume. Who knows which one is the reverse, but clearly one of them is. Guess the only way you could tell is if you knew which way she tended to part her hair. Also, wow Manon Rheaume, what a blast from the past...

1993-94 Classic Images Four Sport #38 Ted Drury (UER, unlisted). Only the back pic is reversed. His jersey number says 81 but he wore 18. Also, Drury is backwards on the back of the shirt and so is the CCM on the glove.

That's it for Classic. Next post will cover all other minor league cards that I have found in random sets (such as TCMA, CMC, etc.).
